The Natural Edge program is a program that allows homeowners, public spaces, regional parks etc. to naturalize their shoreline to the natural habitat. This project plants native species along the shoreline. The species that are planted will depend on your location. These native species will often be less work and they provide habitat and food for pollinator species such as butterflies, bees, and other insects. Native plant species also help stabilize the shore banks and shorelines. The shoreline will take a few years to become stabilized and for the plants to establish.
You can take a look at there website for a list of all the native plant species found not only in Saskatchewan but also throughout Canada. It will show you a list of trees, shrubs, Ferns, Vines, Ground Cover and Wildflowers. If you know what your soils moisture level is you can specify that as well on the website.
If as a landowner you are not sure what your soil condition is, not to worry a delivery partner will come and visit the site and they will determine what your site needs and what plants will do the best at that location.
You can take a look at there website for more information.
